Petworth News: Show the veterans at AFRH some love by making a short video!

President Lincoln’s Cottage is holding its annual Homecoming event to support the veterans who call the Armed Forces Retirement Home their home. This year, instead of an in-person event, due to the pandemic they’re asking the local community to submit videos to show their appreciation for the men and women who gave their time to defend our country.

From the Cottage:

The President Lincoln’s Cottage annual Homecoming program is a celebration of the many ways in which the men and women who have called the Soldiers’ Home grounds home for more than 150 years have enjoyed this campus. While we can’t gather in person this year, we want to show appreciation for the service of our veteran neighbors — whose access to friends, family, and off-campus activities is restricted due to the pandemic — by sharing messages of joy.

We invite members of the Petworth community to submit videos for them and share them with the Lincoln’s Cottage team. We will edit the videos we receive into one meaningful video for the veterans to enjoy on their senior TV.

Submission Deadline is September 24th.

Videos should include:

  • Your name

  • Where you’re from

  • Something that’s brought you joy

Please also make sure your video is:

  • Horizontal (no portrait videos)

  • Up to 30-seconds long

  • Veteran/family friendly

Videos should be emailed to info@lincolncottage.org
