January 2025 Newsletter

Happy New Year

To mark a new year, President Lincoln’s Cottage staff honored the anniversary of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation (January 1, 1863) by reading favorite passages from the document, which was conceived of here at the Cottage.

Thank you for Your Support in 2024!

Tour guide

Thank you to you everyone who supported the Cottage this past giving season! We are excited for the upcoming year — with programs and activities that bring Lincoln’s legacy into the present day and challenge visitors to look at history in new ways— all things that you make possible.

We want to share a special thank you for those who supported our Giving Tuesday campaign. Together, we surpassed our goal of $10,000 to resurface the gravel pathway, supplementing a large federal grant for the project. This improvement will make the Cottage more accessible for all visitors.

An Inspiring Youth Summit for 2025

Applications are open for our 2025 Students Opposing Slavery International Summit (June 22-28). Please alert the young people in your life and encourage them to apply. We have FULL SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE and are able to grant community service hours for participants.

View the application HERE.
