COVID-19 Update from our CEO

March 13, 2020

Dear Friends,

President Lincoln’s Cottage will be closed to the public from March 16, 2020 to March 27, 2020. This is a precautionary measure as part of our city and the world’s communal efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19. We both represent and serve vulnerable populations, including hundreds of U.S. veterans with whom we are honored to share this historic campus. The safety and health of our community is our priority.

During this time, our whole team, including full time and hourly staff, will be working remotely to advance our mission. Although all onsite tours and programs will be suspended for the duration of our closure, we invite you to connect with us on social media. You can also take advantage of our other online resources, including Seasons 1 and 2 of our podcast, Q&Abe, which already has listeners in 18 countries. We are also working with our friends at the Armed Forces Retirement Home to provide virtual enrichment opportunities for the veterans, and are putting out information to our teacher networks about the Open Field Project, a distance learning program we launched last fall.

We were able to create and provide these quality resources thanks to your support. The extent to which this pandemic will affect us and our communities is uncertain. We appreciate your support and friendship as we continue to navigate this situation.

With great appreciation,

Erin Carlson Mast
