Since closing the special exhibit My Abraham Lincoln at the beginning of this month, the staff at President Lincoln’s Cottage has been working diligently to prepare the gallery space for the upcoming special exhibit, Being Lincoln.

Installing a new exhibit takes a group of dedicated individuals and requires teamwork and cooperation.  The process begins with the de-installation of the previous exhibit.  All of the objects loaned for the exhibit must be returned to the lenders.  Then the exhibit space must be readied for the new exhibit design.  Exhibit furnishings, paint colors, and signage must be adjusted to reflect the new exhibit’s needs.  Once the gallery is physically ready, the new exhibit installation begins.

With approximately one week till opening, President Lincoln’s Cottage installation of the special exhibit, Being Lincoln, is nearly finished.  The final touches are being put on the gallery space in preparation for the exhibit’s opening on August 21, 2010.  Everyone is invited to view the new exhibit, which features Lincoln Presenters and try the new interactive program “Lincoln Yourself” to see how much they can “be” like Lincoln.
