Debra Stout recalls traveling during her childhood summers, visiting historic sites around the country. From president’s homes and battlefields, to the halls where the Founding Fathers discussed and debated how to build a new nation, she loved exploring the historic places with her family.

Stout teaches seventh- and eighth-grade social studies at North Cumberland Elementary and is the 2018 Cumberland County Teacher of the Year for grades 4-8. Her classes include world history and American history.

Right out of high school, Stout considered teaching as her career. She enrolled at Tennessee Wesleyan and was soon placed in a middle school classroom.
