Jason Molihan

Director of Development

Jason joined the Cottage in 2018 with over a decade of development experience and is responsible for all fundraising, event sales, and marketing and communications for the National Monument and Historic Site. Since joining staff, Jason has secured multiple sources of new and continuing support from foundations, individuals and corporations, directed comprehensive appeal campaigns, improved donor stewardship, and spearheaded the annual Bourbon and Bluegrass fundraiser. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jason sought new funding and secured multiple six-figure gifts from relief programs through DC Government, the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities, and the National Endowment for the Humanities that sustained the site through its most difficult time.  A native Ohioan, Jason attended The Ohio State University and started his career in 2008 at the Wexner Center for the Arts before entering political fundraising. Jason’s political clients ranged from a local judicial race, a congressional fund event featuring a sitting President, presidential candidates and the Speaker of the US House; but his specialty were Supreme Court campaigns where he had successfully fundraised for 5 of the 7 sitting Justices’ on Ohio’s highest Court by the end of 2014. Jason relocated to Washington, DC to join the Newseum as the Membership and Annual Outreach Manager, at the Bill of Rights Institute as Senior Development Officer, and most recently served as Manager of Individual Giving and Membership at the National Archives Foundation – all of which saw growth in their membership, annual fund, and individual giving revenue under his direction.
