Celebrate 10 Years of President Lincoln’s Cottage
February 19, 2018 marks ten years that President Lincoln’s Cottage, an award-winning historic site, has been open to the public. To celebrate a decade of ground-breaking programs that shed new light on the past and provide opportunities to take action today, President Lincoln’s Cottage will roll out a series of special opportunities for visitors tied to themes of empathy, equality, justice, and freedom.

From February to November 2018, President Lincoln’s Cottage will exhibit a series of artifacts rarely displayed from its own collection as well as items on loan from public and private collections. Future month’s exhibits will be announced at a later date.
In addition, for ten months starting in February, President Lincoln’s Cottage will feature $10 discounted admission on ten separate days. (Or $5 for members and children). Additional special offers will be announced monthly throughout the year.

Special exhibit: Starting February 1st, the “Freedom Documents”–miniature copies of both the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation and the final Emancipation Proclamation, a broadside of the Proclamation, and an etching of the Thirteeneth Amendment–will be on loan for six months.

Special exhibit: For National Reading Month, starting in March, we’ll display a same-edition collection of books Lincoln had in library

$10 admission day: Sunday, March 25
Who: Anyone with a library card. *Must present the library card when you pick up your ticket.

Special exhibit: In April President Lincoln’s Cottage will display a sherry glass President Lincoln purportedly used during his last visit to the Soldiers’ Home in 1865.
Duration: April 1st-April 30th
$10 admission day: Monday, April 16 (D.C. Emancipation Day)
Who: Any resident of the District of Columbia, to celebrate D.C. Emancipation Day. *Must present valid I.D. for proof of residency when you pick up your ticket.

To thank all of our loyal and generous supporters, for the entire month of June all members (new and old) will receive a FREE gift from our Museum Store when they go on a tour.

$10 admission day: Saturday, July 21 (Lawyer Day)
Who: Any lawyer presenting their bar card (from any state)
Lincoln was a lawyer, and to honor his noble profession, we’re offering a reduced $10 admission to all lawyers on Saturday, July 21. Present your bar card (any state will do!) to get the reduced rate.
Special exhibit: On loan from Jorge Roldan and family until the end of July, President Lincoln’s Cottage will display an original letter to Peach Quinn Harrison from Abraham Lincoln.
In the last murder case of his 25-year career as a trial lawyer, Abraham Lincoln defended Peachy Quinn Harrison. In the letter, dated November 3, 1859, Lincoln responded to Harrison by encouraging him to vote for the man who once prosecuted him.
