"My Abraham Lincoln" Bicentennial Exhibit Opens February 12th

In celebration of Lincoln’s 200th birthday, President Lincoln’s Cottage is pleased to open a special exhibition,
“My Abraham Lincoln” featuring artifacts and memorabilia from six private collections around the country.  The exhibitexplores individual motivations for studying Lincoln and collecting Lincolniana in an historical context, with an emphasis on modern interest in Lincoln’s presidency and legacy.

A variety of pop culture Lincolniana, art, and historical documents are included in the exhibit

Objects on display include original Lincoln presidential campaign materials from 1860 and 1864 , an original set of 1923 Lincoln Logs,  an original oil painting of Lincoln at the Soldiers’ Home that was created for the Lincoln sesquicentennial celebration and hung in the U.S. Capitol that year, and an commemorative edition of Gutzon Borglum’s Seated Lincoln made of 1086 ounces of pure silver. 
“My Abraham Lincoln” opens to the public at 12:30pm tomorrow, Thursday, February 12th, 2009.
The exhibit will stay open through December 31, 2009.
