BOOKS BY BLACK AUTHORS
We encourage everyone to add black authors to their bookshelves. In an effort to support this, we are featuring some of our favorite black authored books.
At trying times like these, it can be difficult to find the peace and solace needed to navigate such uncertainty. And, it can be even more challenging to find ways to support the ones we care about — especially at a distance. With that in mind, President Lincoln’s Cottage is offering Care Packages. With two price levels to choose from, our Care Packages are full of curated items from President Lincoln’s Cottage, meant to uplift and brighten anyone’s day.
“The Lincoln” slipper, made by Stubbs and Wootton, purveyors of luxury slippers.*
These custom-made slippers, featuring an embroidered animal motif, are inspired by President Lincoln’s own slippers, currently on exhibit at the Cottage. Although defined by his signature stovepipe hat, Lincoln had a more casual nature while in residence at the Cottage. Historical accounts describe him greeting visitors and pacing the floors while toiling over the Civil War in embroidered carpet slippers. Inspired by the historic slippers and crafted by Stubbs and Wootton, The Lincoln is embroidered in your choice of natural linen, flax linen, or black velvet. All proceeds benefit the mission of President Lincoln’s Cottage.
